Grant Description

Safe, secure and effective exchange platforms are the foundation for the development of innovative digital solutions and AI tools - combined, these solutions will enable more effective planning, development and the management of net zero transport systems.

Unfortunately current data platforms are fragmented, inefficient, and lack transparency, hindering the growth of sustainable mobility solutions - the ZECURE Project will address this the development of an innovative data exchange platform.

ZECURE will support the transition to Zero Emission (ZE) road transport alongside charging infrastructure by establishing an advanced, decentralised platform - as a product in its own right, but also to support the capabilities of BEAT's ZEEFLEET AI tool to support our emergency services, and other specialist fleets, plan and deliver ZE fleets.

UK Fire & Rescue Services in particular face a range of challenges in transforming their heavy, specialist fleets to Zero Emission solutions and providing dedicated charging infrastructure across their estates - all whilst maintaining demanding existing service level requirements.

The ZECURE Project will ensure we meet demanding expectations by the UK's emergency services - for a solution that is built upon real-time, quality data whilst ensuring a safe and secure system.

More broadly, the ZECURE Project will provide companies and public authorities with greater accessibility to quality data so they can better identify, plan, invest and encourage the uptake of ZE vehicles and infrastructure.

As systems become more connected and complex, there is also a growing demand to manage the transport network and support innovative services. The ZECURE project will outline how our decentralised platform - with the integration of AI - can help support the development of these systems, and the wider shift to net zero mobility.

The project sees the collaboration of BEAT and the University of Aberdeen to design, develop and test a compelling and innovative product to address an important real world challenge. Both organisations are experts in their respective fields - BEAT brings unique experience and expertise in planning and developing Zero Emission solutions for the transport and emergency sector, whilst the University of Aberdeen is a leading institution with many years of expertise in developing and applying AI, Cybersecurity and Blockchain solutions for industrial and environmental challenges.
