Grant Description

in 2021, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs donated USD 25,000 to fund the World Food Program's Green Energy for Efficient Agriculture project in the Armenian village of Lusakote.

The project involved the construction of a 20kWh solar power station, as well as the provision of drip irrigation systems, USD 650, various types of berry seeds, and skills training to 15 smallholder farmers.

The goal of the project was to promote food security and alleviate poverty by reducing energy costs and promoting more efficient farming practices. As of February 2022, the 20 kWh solar power station had been constructed in Lusakote Village.

Then, on March 22, 2022, a seminar on the usage of solar technology was held online for Armenian government officials and community members, as well as World Food Program staff.

As of May 2022, the solar power station had entered operation, the drip irrigation systems had been installed, and local farmers had received funds, seeds, and training.
