With the phase out of diesel and petrol vehicles from 2030 onwards, Emergency Services need to take steps now to move towards Zero Emission Fleets.
UK Fire & Rescue Services in particular face a range of challenges in transforming their heavy, specialist fleets to Zero Emission (ZE) solutions and providing dedicated charging infrastructure across their estates - all whilst maintaining demanding existing service level requirements.
The development of the ZEEFLEET (Zero, Effective, Efficient FLEET) tool is tailored to the specialist needs of emergency services - it will help services plan and deliver ZE fleets, but also deliver more effective, efficient fleets to reduce costs and assume an effective transition.
The project sees the collaboration of BEAT and the University of Aberdeen to design, develop and test a compelling and innovative product to address an important real world challenge. Both organisations are experts in their respective fields - BEAT brings unique experience and expertise in planning and developing Zero Emission solutions for the emergency and broader transport sector, whilst the University of Aberdeen is a leading institution with many years of expertise in developing and applying AI solutions to industrial problems.
