Nourish - Prolonging food life in the home to minimise food waste and it's impact on the environment

Our planet is drowning in waste. Globally, around a third of all food produced is lost or wasted, which contributes between 8 and 10 per cent of total greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, if food waste were a country, it would have the third-biggest carbon footprint after the USA and China (UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation, 2019).

This topic is now gathering attention as the UN is aiming to halve food waste per capita, by 2030 as part of their twelfth sustainable development goal. The UK Government has also committed to halving the UK's per capita food waste by 2030.

The solution/product system is called Nourish. This project will develop a product system to reduce household waste. This extremely ambitious idea will offer a positive impact on our planet as every system that is sold is saving food from being wasted and potentially entering landfill and emitting dangerous greenhouse gases.
