CITIC provides temporary shelter for Angolan people impacted by heavy rain and donates emergency supplies

On April 24, 2023, the Chinese company CITIC offered free temporary shelters to Luanda residents impacted by continuous heavy rain in Angola's capital.

CITIC Construction Angola signed an agreement with Beiras City, Luanda Province, to provide CITIC Vocational Training School as a temporary settlement for disaster victims free of charge. It donated emergency supplies such as mattresses, quilts, food and drinking water.

Beiras Mayor Alindo Santos told Xinhua News Agency that about 200 families took refuge in this place, and the municipal government is actively cooperating with local companies to provide support to the victims as much as possible.

He especially praised Chinese companies in Angola for actively fulfilling their social responsibilities and thanked Chinese companies for providing settlements for the victims at a "particularly difficult time" for the local government. Angolan cities lack municipal drainage facilities and suffer severe floods every rainy season.

According to data released by the Angolan government on the 24th, continuous heavy rains in Luanda recently caused at least 10 deaths.
