CHROME - Circadian Hypertension Rhythm Optimization Management Environment

The idea behind CHROME focuses on self-driven healthcare.

Our vision for CHROME is to provide a single solution for the establishment of Blood Pressure, aligned to Circadian Rhythm, through the use of an existing CE marked stick-on device that measures ECG.

The key objectives are to establish the Blood Pressure aligned to the Circadian Rhythm, such that we can provide a personalised Hypertension management score based on typically 60,480 readings taken over a 7 day period, without the use of an inflatable cuff.

The main area of focus is to refine our algorithm and to develop an app that interfaces between the existing stick-on patches hardware and a smartphone that can be used to record the ECG data and execute our algorithm to convert the ECG signal into a systolic/diastolic Blood Pressure reading in near-real time, giving the wearer of the device a near-real Blood Pressure, without the need for an inflatable cuff.

This is innovative as it allows us to use an existing CE marked piece of hardware, that has Bluetooth functionality, but which has not been exploited, to create something that extends the usability of an existing wearable device.

We use an existing stick-on ECG patch, the lightest, showerproof, device on the market, take the ECG signal from this in real-time and convert a 10 second time sequence of ECG signal into Blood Pressure.

For the user, this represents a considerable step change in the accessibility of their Blood Pressure data, allowing them to see their BP trended over time, aligned to their Circadian Rhythm.

This has enormous potential for personalised medicine as for the first time you can see the effect on pharmacological compounds on the both the ECG and more importantly the Blood Pressure. This is perhaps the first consumer system that allows users to understand the performance effects and time-response to the ingestion of Hypertension management drugs such as Beta-blockers or ACE inhibitors.

People hate wearing inflatable Blood Pressure cuffs, CHROME bridges the gap between the unacceptability of Blood Pressure cuffs with the acceptability of smartphone health monitoring.

CHROME is a proposal that will help us develop both our idea and our business, create a new revenue stream, provide evidence and enable our market, and help with the funding and commercialisation plans for Circadian Dynamics Limited. The project assists our commercial path and generates evidence of the potential for the company's IP.
