Karantis-360 is an automated monitoring and alerting system, using intelligent, state-of-the-art sensors, wirelessly linked that send alerts to support the user. It has been developed specifically by the founders' experiences from both a care industry and personal experience with her grandfather. Living with Alzheimer's and Parkinsons, the stress of knowing what was happening and how her family could help support was what drove Helen to design this solution.
Independence and the VIP's wishes would often get overlooked when a diagnosis is made, something that doesn't get discussed enough. Privacy and independence without the use of invasive technology again a decision the care recipient(VIP) is removed from. Designed to help promote independent home living for older adults, vulnerable individuals, those living with Dementia, Mental Health issues, and to enable early release from hospital and for those where Safeguarding is required for example discharge to assess.
Using non-intrusive sensors, machine learning, and automatic data communication, Karantis-360 flags exceptions to routines and habits, such as movement, daily activities, heating temperatures, bathroom usage etc. By analysing data and comparing it to expected patterns, the system identifies when the VIPs activity is out-of-the-ordinary and sends an immediate alert, effectively preventing a potential emergency.
This is especially critical with the cost of living increasing and energy costs rising, understanding eating, and hydration alongside energy consumption to ensure a VIP is living well is key.
For this project, Karantis-360 is building a prototype of a new module (Karantis-360 Health) of the existing platform that can be used to not only to monitor behaviour patterns but to also monitor medical conditions using biometric/medical devices. This level of combined monitoring -- medical/biometric and sensor data - will provide a completely holistic view of a person's condition with the aim to prevent/identify a health issue from escalating to a long-term health problem by flagging exceptions to the norm.
Our objective is to create more independence for users of our service to be able to manage their own care/healthcare remotely and independently while also knowing the data collected can be shared with their GP/hospital. Harnessing the power of ultra-modern technology, Karantis-360 helps deliver an age-old human need: to stay somewhere familiar (at home), safe in the knowledge help will be there if we need it!
