Grant Description

On June 25, 2022, a 20-day training seminar funded by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), and supported by the Central Academy of Culture and Tourism Administration, started in Afghanistan . The seminar was entitled "Afghanistan Cultural Relics Protection and Archeology Senior Staff Training Course".

Previously, Chinese archeologists had visited the site of the future copper mine at Mes Aynak in Logar province, which is a rich archeological site at risk from planned mining activity. Archaeology employees in Afghanistan participated in the seminar virtually. Mawlavi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Cultural affairs of Afghan, attended the opening ceremony for the seminar.

The monetary value of this seminar is unknown.

Copper and a Nation’s Heritage Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
