On September 7, 2022, a handover ceremony was held at the Khunjerab Pass for the donation of flood relief supplies worth RMB 1 million from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region to the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. The first batch of supplies included quilts, clothing, tents, and other winter protection supplies.
QILU International Trade Company was involved in implementing the project.
On September 15, 2022, Sabir Hussain, Coordinator to the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan accused the Deputy Commissioner of the Hunza District of stealing two trucks of relief supplies sent by the government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
Hussain presented various documents to support his claim, including an invoice dated September 6, 2022, detailing the goods provided by QILU International Trade company. It is unclear if any further action resulted from these allegations.
The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region also donated 200 tons of onions to support victims of flooding in Pakistan (captured in Record ID#100229).
