Grant Description
The U.S. Department of State’s Embassy in Honduras announces an open competition for past participants (“alumni”) of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs to submit applications to the 2026 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF).  All AEIF 2026 projects must support U.S. priorities and strengthen ties between the United States and Honduras. U.S. priorities may include regional security, celebration of U.S. excellence tied to the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, building economic prosperity, and promoting use of U.S. science, technology, and innovation. For AEIF 2026, The U.S. Embassy in Honduras will review public service projects proposed in the following priority areas:   Promote Regional Security Cooperation Includes initiatives to end illegal migration to the United States, disrupt trafficking networks, and counter transnational threats. Programs that counter organized crime and stop the flow of drugs to the United States.  Build Regional Economic Prosperity Business development, commercial diplomacy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, resource development, and trade. Projects that promote English language proficiency to promote business partnerships.  Science, Technology, and Innovation  Advancing U.S. digital and AI technologies for education, healthcare, defense, and cybersecurity. Programs that introduce cutting edge U.S. innovation to improve Honduras’ technological operating environment. Expanding access to high-quality career and technical education that will foster compatibility with U.S. models. Defend Freedom of Speech and Digital Freedom Initiatives that promote free speech, open dialogue, and transparency, and expose censorship.   Mandatory to all proposals – All proposals must include activities to commemorate 250 years of American independence, highlighting shared commitments to freedom, opportunity, and democratic principles in the U.S.-Honduras partnership.   Proposals that do not address one or more areas as outlined in the program objectives will be deemed ineligible. All project activities must take place outside of the United States and/or its territories.
