Grant Description

Through this project, IOM aims to increase the capacity of the Chadian Government and NGOs to prosecute TIP crimes and protect victims of trafficking.

IOM is conducting an initial country assessment based on existing materials in order to synthesize information on the main trends of TIP, including the scale of the trafficking problem and profiles of victims. This overview is being supplemented by a legislative review.

The project consists of four additional components, including (1) a capacity building program for law-enforcement officials and key stakeholders on the nature of TIP and appropriate investigative techniques; (2) the development of a capacity building curricula for governmental officials focused on law enforcement services; (3) the establishment of a network of service providers that will provide direct assistant for the return and reintegration of male and female VoTs; and (4) awareness raising activities in high risk areas of Chad on the dangers of TIP and means to prevent it.
